PREFACE
Praise our thanks to Allah SWT who has given grace and guidance to us all, prayers and salutations are always offered to the Prophet SAW. Who has pleased to give us instructions and strenght so that we can complete a paper entitled PRESENT TENSE.
This paper is prepared and made based on available materials. Material aims to be able to add to the knowledge and insight of students in learning tenses.
And in the preparation of this paper we are aware that there are still many shortcomings and errors, and therefore we expect positive criticism so that it can be corrected as needed.
Finally, I hope this paper can benefit us all.

INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND
Tenses are important in English education. If someone wants to master English well, then he must be able to master good tenses. Amog the forms of tenses we will discuss simple present tense.
Present Tense or also know as Simple Present Tenseis a form of time used to expressan action. Where Simple Present Tense is used in stating events that occur today or is a daily habit (habitual action), can also be used to declare a general truth (general truth).
B. Formulation of the problem
From the background of the above problems can be made the formulation of the problem include:
What is the definition and function of Simple Present Tense?
What is the definition and function of Present Continuous Tense?
What is the definition and function of Present Perfect Tense?
What is the definition and function of Present Perfect Continuous Tense?

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
To declare a work event or event that happened today or the act
that is happening right now.
FORMULA: A : S + To Be (am, is, are) + ....

To form a question sentence (Interogative) then To Be placed in front of the subject.
For example in nominal sentence (no verbs).
(+) : She is very happy
(-) : She is not very happy
(?) : Is she very happy?
(-?) : Is she not very happy?
Example of verbal sentence (verbs)
All verb plus = S /ES - in sentence where the subject is a single third
person (SHE – HE – IT) or number one (single).
The letter: S /ES : is amitted in verbs where the subject is a thrid person singular
if the sentence is in the form of :

Auxiliary (Can – May – Must )
In the form of a question sentence (Interogative) if in sentence there is a verb in front of the subject plus = Do = (whose subject : I - YOU - THEY - WE plural numbers).
And if the subject is = SHE - HE - IT or number one, then in front of the subject is added = DOES =
But if in the sentence there has been an = CAN - MAY - MUST or others then the word help is placed in front of the subject.
Whereas if forming a denying sentence (Negative) after the subject is added = DO NOT = (DON’T) on the subject = I – YOU – THEY – WE plural numbers and DOES NOT (DOESN’T) on the subject = SHE – HE – IT or number one.
But if in the sentence there are already helpful words like = CAN – MAY – MUST or others. Then after CAN – MAY – MUST directly added = NOT =
Example:
(+) He goes to school every morning
(-) He does not go to school every morning
(?) Does he go to school every morning?
(-?) Does she not go to school every morning?

To state an action event that happened in the past and is stiil related to now or to show an event that was completed in a short time.
